Everything you need to know about modest Islamic clothing

According to a report, it has been found that Google search for the term “Modest Fashion” went up by approximately 500%. The modest fashion market is worth around a billion dollars and this number is expected to grow exponentially over the next 5 – 7 years. Taking this into consideration, some brands have started their online stores for selling modest Islamic clothing. And the good thing is, whether a person is Muslim or not, they still can shop from these stores. Girls now prefer to shop from modest clothing stores more.

It has now become very common to see big stars wear covered-up silhouettes and creative layering. Modest fashion is everywhere but what exactly is modest fashion? Well, this is a new term and hence there is some confusion regarding what it exactly looks like.

What is modest fashion?

Modest fashion is about covering certain parts of the body stylishly. This is a general meaning of modest fashion but in reality, this means different to different people. Modest fashion has grown exponentially, thanks to fashion designers. They have overhauled Islamic clothing such as burkas, kaftans, abayas, hijabs, chador, khimar, etc. to look fashionable and modest at the same time.

These Islamic clothes now come in a variety of different colors, fabrics, designs, patterns, and prints. This means that Islamic women now have a wider variety to choose from and those who just like the idea of modest fashion can also get their hands on some amazing new designs.

Big brands have still not realized how big the trend is going to be in the coming few years. Not only Muslim women but women from all religions can wear modest fashion apparel. The abaya is a modest clothing garment that also doubles down as a dress or a gown for parties, casual parties, family functions, etc.

Hijab is one beautiful piece of garment and holds a special place in the wardrobe of Muslim women as it is of religious importance to them. However, non-Muslim women can also wear the hijab as a headscarf. Also, there are numerous ways of tying a headscarf that looks chic.

The modest fashion industry was created by users who weren’t getting what they needed from the retail market. Toronto’s modest fashion week festival was one of the very first events to put the spotlight on the growing consumer demand for modest fashion. But in recent years the modest fashion industry has exploded beyond community-led events and has become a multi-billion dollar industry.

The boom in the industry has given new opportunities to Muslims in the fashion industry. More than ever before, models who wear the hijab are starring in ad campaigns emphasizing to women that fashion and modesty are not mutually exclusive.
